Man Cave Renovation Weekend Rocks the Men!

Man Cave Renovation weekend, the 69th annual Fall gathering of United Methodist Men, was an overwhelming success in several ways.

  • After 10+ years of declining attendance, this year’s event had a 26% increase in attendance over 2016.
  • Roughly 70% of the attendees were first-timers.
  • Our vision of a “youth movement” in UMM has begun with many younger men and a handful of teenagers participating.
  • The format of the event received a glowing positive response.
  • Rev. Mike Hudson delivered three powerful messages on the caves of David, Elijah, and Jesus, giving the men opportunity to reflect and discuss the content in small groups throughout the presentation.
  • 28 men played in the pre-event Pastor Appreciation golf tournament.

We are grateful for the amazing staff at the Life Enrichment Center and for those who provided support outside of the UMM team:

  • Bruce Seidner – Pastor Appreciation golf tournament coordinator.
  • Seth Seidner – Man Cave Seargent-at-Arms for the weekend.
  • Bill Olson and the Connection Praise Band from Mandarin UMC.
  • Rev. Jeff St. Clair – Leader of Sunrise Message on the Dock.
  • Rev. Mike Hudson – Keynote Message Speaker

Mark your calendar for the following events in 2018:

  • February 10, 2018 – Igniting Men Conference – Mandarin UMC, Jacksonville
  • April 7, 2018 – Igniting Men Conference – South West District location TBA
  • May 19, 2018 – Igniting Men Conference – East Central District location TBA
  • October 19-20, 2018 – 70th Annual Men’s Fall Weekend Expedition

Last, but certainly not least, our deepest gratitude goes out to the men participating in the Man Cave Renovation weekend. Men’s lives were changed and many of you stepped out of long-established comfort zones into something new and unproven. We are eternally grateful for the opportunity to have presented this event and to have served you during the weekend.

In His Service and Yours,

The UMM Florida Team
